Torpor is a state of general numbness, both physical and psychic. It is characterized by a feeling of numbness, and often the affected person experiences despondency when their body signals them to be more active.

Numbness is characterized by the sensation of a limb being heavy, tingling, and difficult to move. Physical numbness is a reflection of mental numbness, often a result of deep emotional pain and hurt. To avoid suffering, individuals sometimes numb their feelings, creating a barrier to sensitivity. These emotional wounds may have originated in childhood and grown heavier with time, becoming a burden. This process represents a form of self-isolation, closing oneself off to love and compassion, and escaping from reality.
The specific body part affected and the side (left or right) offer clues about the area of life where the emotional wound is located. It's a signal to reawaken enthusiasm, dynamism, and love within that aspect of life, enhancing overall quality of life. By learning to love oneself more and opening up to love and compassion, individuals can dismantle the barriers they've erected. The more they love, the more love and friendship they receive. This inner serenity, long sought externally, now flows from within, enriching their interactions with others.
The tongue is a muscular and mucous organ with significant functions in chewing, speaking, swallowing, and taste perception. Common tongue issues include ulcers, cancer, injuries, inflammation, numbness, burns, and tongue biting. Many tongue problems stem from guilt related to dietary choices. Some individuals may blame themselves for being indiscreet in their speech. Since the tongue serves various purposes, it's beneficial to explore the specific area where guilt is located using additional questions. Biting one's tongue typically signifies guilt about something said or about to be said. For those who feel guilty about their eating preferences, remember the saying, "It is not what goes into a man's mouth that hurts him, but what comes out of it." Regardless of the guilt, the pain serves as a reminder that certain values are causing harm. It's time to let go of these values and embrace experiences that cultivate unconditional love. Grant yourself the freedom to express yourself, even if it doesn't always go perfectly. The tongue's taste function is essential for verbal expression. If one "bites their tongue," they should reflect on any self-blame for their words, investigating any feelings of guilt. Numbness or swelling of the tongue suggests a desire to savor life more or harboring aversion towards a person, object, or situation. Learning to appreciate life's joys is key.
Numbification is the sensation of partial paralysis, typically not very painful, primarily experienced in the extremities. It often occurs in the legs, hands, or arms and is closely related to one's actions or "doing." It manifests in individuals who are anxious and wish to avoid feeling. They may try to conceal their sensitivity from others through their actions or demand too much of themselves in everything they do, striving to avoid acknowledging their emotions. In doing so, they deny their true sensitive nature and become overwhelmed by anxiety.
When numbness sets in, your body's message is clear: "Stop pretending that external events don't affect you; stop denying your sensitivity." This mindset can slow down your actions and progress. Take a moment to reflect on what makes you hesitate to acknowledge your feelings to yourself or others. Investigate the underlying anxieties. Give yourself permission to make different choices in your actions (hands or arms) or future plans (feet or legs). If numbness occurs in other body parts, consider the role of that particular body part and what aspect of your sensitivity you're trying to conceal.
Stupor is a progressive or complete cessation of physical and intellectual activity, often linked to profound fear or astonishment. It is akin to numbness but signifies a more severe state.
Stupefaction.
The lips serve various functions, including eating, speaking, whistling, smiling, kissing, and protecting the teeth. Common lip problems include inflammation, fissures, numbness, fire, dry lips, paralysis, and cancer. From a metaphysical perspective, the upper lip is associated with internal desires, while the lower lip reflects the external environment. Biting the lips may indicate anger in response to something said. Lips can convey openness or narrow-mindedness, revealing tension, worries, sorrows, or fears through cracked or dry lips. Their fullness may correlate with joy, pleasure, and love or repression and rigidity. In women, lip issues may relate more closely to expressions of sexuality and femininity. The lower lip symbolizes the masculine, rational side, while the upper lip represents the feminine, emotional aspect. Expressing both negative and positive feelings is essential through lips, including complaints, affection, and appreciation, allowing for the expression of love toward loved ones.
Anchylosis is a state of numbness characterized by the temporary loss of movement in one or several joints. It is partial but can become total if I choose to remain completely inactive. This is the initial step towards both physical and mental paralysis. I must recognize the responsibility I hold if I continue in this state without action or desire to move. What am I afraid of? Is it the unknown, the anticipation of something new that unsettles me? I can engage with the affected part of my body to gain insight into the source of my anchylosis. For instance, if it's in my arm, am I resisting new experiences in life? Do I feel a sense of mutilation? If it's in my shoulder, does life feel burdensome, as if a person or situation is too much to bear? Does loneliness or the fear of facing the unknown congest my thoughts? If it's in my foot, what direction am I reluctant to take, causing me to stagnate? If it affects my entire body, I become numb in the face of something or someone, a form of escapism. I'm aware that I'm storing energy in this part of my body, which leads to unconscious anxiety. It's time for me to move forward! I now acknowledge my mistakes (or rather, my responsibilities) and my life experiences. I accept resuming the movement I temporarily abandoned and reactivate my thoughts while remaining open. I nurture a more creative mindset.
Apathy represents a form of insensitivity or indifference. It's a surrender to life's challenges, a loss of motivation, and an absence of willingness to change. Apathy often arises after a setback, trauma, or other negative experiences that drain one's enthusiasm and sense of purpose. One might contemplate escaping from a situation due to a lack of motivation or joy, or out of fear of disappointment. Resistance sets in, leading to a refusal to see or feel what's happening in and around oneself, resulting in a degree of emotional numbness as a protective mechanism. Apathy may also be associated with profound shame and guilt, as one strives to become emotionally insensitive to their inner self.
To overcome apathy, one must open themselves to life and seek new, positive experiences. It requires adopting a more constructive attitude towards life and setting new goals. Embrace the necessary changes.
Dependence often stems from a deep inner emptiness, an attempt to fill a void primarily caused by a lack of self-love or emotional deficiencies related to one of my parents. Through various forms of dependence such as alcohol, drugs, food, cigarettes, sports, or sex, I try to fill this void, despair, and sadness. My life lacks meaning, leaving my deepest desires unfulfilled. I feel in rebellion against the outside world and struggle to preserve my sense of self. I find it difficult to love myself as I am, and this temporary inability manifests as anger and resentment towards the universe.
Dependence becomes a temporary escape from a world filled with problems. Alcohol provides moments of ecstasy and numbness in the face of life's challenges, while non-prescription drugs lead me towards new sensations and uncharted realms of consciousness. All forms of dependence can have various negative effects on the body, potentially leading to uncontrolled fears (neuroses), especially in cases of strong dependence, such as drug addiction.
The crucial first step is self-awareness, which requires a great deal of love and courage to confront and break free from this enslavement that plagues my life. I choose to remain open to the unknown and the path that leads to self-realization. Unconditional love is the foundation of my healing. I seek support from others, explore different methods of natural healing to center myself, harmonize my being, and bolster my inner strength. This journey helps me integrate and heal the emotional voids experienced during my youth. I no longer fear responsibilities and reconnect with the divine being within me.
