Alcoholism and smoking can be seen as ways to cope with these emotions – alcohol serves as an escape, while smoking screens unwanted feelings.

The tongue's role in seeking, tasting, and chewing food raises the question of whether I feel I can "consume" what I desire in life. It might symbolize a longing for something vital, such as a new job, a relationship, or simply the enjoyment of life. To overcome tongue cancer, I must rediscover the taste for life, boost my self-esteem, and learn to express my emotions openly. This journey will help me explore the beauty that life has to offer and take action to fulfill my needs because I deserve it!

Common tongue issues include ulcers, cancer, injuries, inflammation, numbness, burns, and tongue biting. Many tongue problems stem from guilt related to dietary choices. Some individuals may blame themselves for being indiscreet in their speech. Since the tongue serves various purposes, it's beneficial to explore the specific area where guilt is located using additional questions. Biting one's tongue typically signifies guilt about something said or about to be said. For those who feel guilty about their eating preferences, remember the saying, "It is not what goes into a man's mouth that hurts him, but what comes out of it." Regardless of the guilt, the pain serves as a reminder that certain values are causing harm. It's time to let go of these values and embrace experiences that cultivate unconditional love. Grant yourself the freedom to express yourself, even if it doesn't always go perfectly. The tongue's taste function is essential for verbal expression. If one "bites their tongue," they should reflect on any self-blame for their words, investigating any feelings of guilt. Like other forms of dependency, alcoholism often arises when attempting to fill a profound emotional or inner void—a part of oneself that seems to poison existence. People may turn to excessive drinking for various reasons: to escape from unpleasant realities, to resist fear, authority figures (particularly parents), or loved ones due to a fear of revealing their true selves in the light of day, or to gain courage in social situations.

Alcohol can provide a sense of power and strength, especially in affective relationships, where the individual believes that their intoxicated state will not inconvenience others. This form of self-medication can lead to a disregard for potential dangers. It can be accompanied by feelings of loneliness, isolation, guilt, inner turmoil, incomprehension, and a sense of abandonment, often stemming from family issues or unresolved conflicts.

Alcoholism may also result from hypoglycemia, with alcohol quickly converting into temporary blood sugar. This can lead to increased consumption of coffee and sugary foods. Nutritional deficiencies can exacerbate the search for relief through alcohol.

Therefore, I have a great need to embrace feelings of love and express them, both towards those around me and myself, by speaking words of love.
